Yes, Coach Carter actually had a lockout and made sure his players performed better in the classroom before playing basketball again.

Ken Carter's son did want to play for his dad.  He transferred schools annd went from a very good team to a bad team jus to play for his father.

All of the characters were real and were portrayed accurately in the film.

The team was pretty bad when Coach Carter stared, but the kids were not bad and did not cause trouble like it was showed in the movie.

Coach Carter did not find the boys partying at a mansion after a tournament win.

The team went 19-5, but the movie did not mention the losses.

The lockout lasted less than a week, but there were two lockouts in real life.  The movie shows one lockout lasting for one week.

There were 6 players from the varsity basketball team that graduated that year.

Coach Carter's son, Damien Carter did make a game-winning basket in real life.

There were 45 players in total including the freshmen and junior varsity teams as well as the varsity team.
