Historical Accuracy

Coach Carter was fairly historically accurate. Coach Ken Carter said himself, "98.5 percent of what you see is true to my own life and what happened to me." The characters were the biggest change as they changed names and did not show the characters in accurate ways. Also, many of the scores and records shown in the movie were not correct to the real life story.  The school principal was showed of being against Coach Carter's ways in the movie, but in real life the principal of Richmond High School was in fact very supportive to Coach Carter.  In real life, Coach Carter did not put a physcial lock on the gym like it was showed in the movie.  He held a lockout, but could not put a lock on the gym doors because it would prevent other sports and physcial education classes from using the gym.  Lastly, many of the characters in the movie were always causing trouble, but in the real-life situation, the players were good kids and stayed out of trouble.

"You said we're a team. One person struggles, we all struggle. One person triumphs, we all triumph." -Jason Lyle
"I came to coach basketball players, and you became students. I came to teach boys, and you became men." -Coach Carter
